ENERGI E2, BUY MORE 4-ROPE MRS GRABS
Following positive experience with earlier deliveries, Energi E2 has ordered two new MRS grabs from Port-Trade, to be delivered end of March 2005.
The grabs will be used at E2 Amagerværket, which itself uses approx. 800,000 tpy coal (2003), plus increasing quantities of bio-fuel.
The grabs, each weighing 6 tons and holding 10 m3, are lubrication-free and carry a unique
5 year warranty, covering all bearings.
The final grab design is adapted to the existing discharge hoppers.
The final decision was made following on-site visits to study MRS grabs already operating in coal as well as a visit to MRS’ factory and design office in Helmstadt (D).
The on site visits confirmed that the digging and filling capabilities are strong points. Notably the ability of MRS grabs to dig into coal of varying quality was an important factor, since coal sometimes become compressed during transport, making it difficult to break the surface.
Careful attention was also given to grab design, choice of materials, welding procedures, assembly practices, quality control and ease of maintenance.
