New MRS grab for Norske Skog i Skogn
So far, Norske Skog has taken delivery of chalk in road tankers. Now, the large paper mill near Trondheim has switched to more economical and environmentally friendlier coaster transport. Port Trade has delivered an 8m3 closed, electro hydraulic MRS grab for handling the material with the Gottwald mobile harbor crane type HMK 170 E, which Norske Skog has operated for DFDS Lys Line since more than 5 years.
The crane transfers the chalk directly from the vessel into a reception hopper, built into the roof of a new store.
After one year’s operation, project manager Runar H. Thorhuus, who designed the new bulk terminal building and Vidar Graadal, who is maintenance manager, are both quite satisfied with the capacity and the reliability of the MRS grab.
