Hofor has ordered an Equilibrium crane from E-Crane International, to replace an existing 4-rope
grab crane at Amagerværket. The new E-Crane will handle coal and biofuels for the power
generating plant. Designated 9359B GA-E, the gantry mounted E-crane has 10 tons grab capacity
at 36m outreach and is big enough to service Panamax vessels.
Following the mandatory tendering process, HOFOR selected an equilibrium crane from E-Crane
International as their preferred choice.
Worldwide, E-Crane is the leading manufacturer of balance cranes. Prior to the order, technical
details, manufacturing facilities and quality control procedures were reviewed carefully by HOFOR.
The advantages of the equilibrium principle
The equilibrium principle, perfected and implemented successfully in well over 200 cranes by
Indusign N.V.* of Belgium, provides a nearly perfect balance between the movable counterweight
and the weight of the crane boom and the stick plus half of the payload, at all radii.
