Two large GHMK 7608 B ordered by Port of Mälarhamnar AB, Västerås
Mälarhamnar expects growth in all cargo categories and has chosen the versatile Gottwald model 7608 B to simultaneously meet their requirements for a fast 4-rope grab crane, an accurate heavy lift crane and a professional container handling crane.
280 tons capacity of Tandem Lift Assistant
The cranes are equipped with the unique Gottwald Tandem Lift Assistant, enabling the two cranes to lift loads up to 280 tons, each utilizing their full 140 ton SWL capacity under the hook.
External power supply saves cost
Both cranes are equipped with a cable reel, for plug-in connection to the port’s 11 kV external power supply. This reduces power consumption to an absolute minimum and saves service costs for the on board diesel-generator.
The new cranes are similar to the crane working since 2009 in the Port of Aalborg, except that the tower is 3 m higher in Aalborg.

Vertical Lift Assistant
By ensuring truly vertical lifting, swaying of the cargo is prevented and the risk of damage to expensive cargo is practically eliminated.
Tandem Lift Assistant
Gottwald cranes can be operated simultaneously, by only one driver.
The system makes it possible to utilize the full rated capacity of both cranes.

The port of Västerås already operates a Gottwald HMK 260 E and two E-Crane balance cranes, utilizing several MRS grabs and Stevenel attachments, all supplied by Port-Trade. Port-Trade represents both crane manufacturers and is responsible for technical service and support.
